Our mission is to raise as much money as possible to renovate the communal space that is known as Kennet Way Park.
We are working our socks off thinking of different ways that we can add those pennies and pounds to the pot and hit our target.
The end goal is to have a new playground and enjoyable green space for all the residents of Oakley to enjoy.
The project is essentially split into two parts:
Part 1: The much-needed redevelopment of the playground.
The park is looking old and tired and really needs investment and some TLC. We will work with Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council to create an exciting and imaginative play space for the children, teenagers, families and residents of Oakley to enjoy for years to come.
Part 2: The surrounding green space.
Once the playground is suitably kitted out we are hoping to invest in the surrounding green space of the park.
Things like landscaping the grounds, additional planting and bins and ensuring that the area has suitable seating available for all the residents of the village.
We are working closely with the Borough Council to ensure that Oakley village has a voice. The KWP team will be putting a brief together with them to ensure that all our ideas are put across and are heard. The council have the ultimate say as they are responsible for the upkeep and maintenance of the park going forward but we are confident that together we will strike the perfect balance and create a fantastic space for the residents of Oakley.
The fundraising ends in September 2019, the consultation will take place in autumn 2019 and design in early 2020. There are lots of steps and processes to go through but we are hoping to have a finished project ready to be enjoyed by everyone in the autumn of 2020.
We are working really hard to raise as much money as possible. We will be holding events in the village. Receiving general public donations and donations from businesses and of course via our crowdfunding page. But the bulk of the funds will be from grant applications with large organisations but when considering applications they do like to see that the villagers are also raising funds. So please keep up the momentum!
We have a policy to never ‘spend money to make money’. Money spent on events comes from our own pockets. This means that donated money will never be ‘gambled’ to try to make more. All funds raised go towards the project*
*Minus the standard platform processing fee for donations / PayPal / Stripe etc.
Grants received (LIF + S106) are being held by Basingstoke and Deane Borough Council. Donations from individuals are paid into the projects Natwest Community Account. Two people have access to this and we can view the transactions at any point. Your money is safe!
Any money that you wish to donate is gratefully received, every penny and pound count. However, doing a quick bit of maths based on the number of people living in the village, if each adult donated £20 then we would smash our target!!! That £20 works out at £1.70 per month for the next 12 month. So for less than the cost of a coffee each month, you could make a massive difference to your community.
We have until September 2019 to raise as much money as possible.
No matter of the amount raised, the park and surrounding space will be improved.
It is simply a case of the more we raise the better equipped the area will be. The £125,000+ target will ensure that we achieve a fantastic space for everyone to enjoy.
HOOOOORAY - Firstly thank you for your support, it really means a lot! There are lots of ways that you can make a donation so please take a look at our donation page for more info.
